WEEK 1 DAY 7

I woke up around 8.15 am even though there were so many alarms before that that rang and it was all shut off at the end by both my roommate and me. Two alarms by my roommate and two alarms by me. At the end, we waken up by our apartment mate, Cheong Rui by the knocking of our door. Woke up, and wash up followed by choosing of clothes whether I should wear long sleeve or short sleeve. Finally, came to a conclusion to wear a short sleeve shirt and jeans.

All of us had our breakfast near our school which was our usual hang out place, Ate dry noodles (re gan mian) with hot bubble tea again.

Outside the school building

We walked to classroom as a whole class after that and needed to climb 7 floors to get to the classroom. Upon reaching there, we found out that the gate was locked and Mr. Wee needed to get it from downstairs and walked down while we waited. AND Mr. Wee was on the other side of the gate in a few minutes time. Then we found out that we walked the wrong stairs and that’s why there was no students walking up that staircase.

We then walked to the other stairs to walk up again, while we were walking up a few students was behind Alicia and me, I overheard them making a comment that why we were carrying such big backpacks. I think the reason they made that comment is that in the school, I only notice the students at their campus carrying really small bags or just carrying their books in hand to classes. I assume that they maybe rarely need to bring a laptop to school thus they made that comment.

I had the very first lesson in Wuhan taught by Mr. Wee, basically covers the introduction of project management and some stories as to what were Mr. Wee experiences which we could learn from. Like sometimes need to give way to people or act blur then people would look up to you which can be applied in real life, like there are times you need to give in to benefit.

Taught stuff like when the end date is not met there will be a penalty; when a contractor is fast they maybe be given a bonus; what is project management; the different types of property such as residential example: Far East, capital mall, Win Tai by the government, lippo group by Indonesia and HDB. Second is Industrial which is JTC (Jurong Town Council) in Singapore and finally commercial; feasible study is whether it is worth to invest and what type they want; design wise [e.g. condo – drive range] and economic Viability whether it is able to make money; design brief is what is their scheme as different companies have different standards, example: Different car companies which gives different samples. The design teams needs to know what to design in detail instruction.

Around the school corridor

For lunch, I had some crispy flour and more flour items with a cup of drink. I also got to see how Che Chong Fan is made.

After that accompanied Yan Khee back to the hostel.

We took a small vehicle to take us our hostel as Yan Khee was feeling sick. After having the experience of fast speed of a taxi which was like in a sport car and almost banging into cars or pedestrians feeling. The ride which cost $1 RMB was quite ok just that in order to avoid banging into students, they would honk.

After that i walked back alone to class, as I walked along the streets, people were looking at me, I feel weird. But I feel all of sudden a new student thrown to another country to study and felt great.

We went back to the classroom to be able to connect to the wireless connection when in class.

We headed down to the supermarket, Carrefour, to get dinner ingredients as we were intending to cook. Due to people falling sick such as Mr. Wee and Yan Khee, they needed some plain and simple food which did not have much seasoning. While walking in the supermarket, I saw something on the ground which was a pile of something and finally notice that it was actually a child waste was a little child at squatting position nearby which is something that cannot be found in Singapore.

We then took a cab back to the hostel, started cooking our dinner, the first meal that a whole big group of us was cooking, had to throw away the first batch of rice once as we over cooked it with a burning smell which emitted out due to too big the heat and not stirring the rice continuously. We had side dishes such as microwave food items which were canned food and fried food item like luncheon meat. That was the dinner that around 10 of us had for the day.

Guess it was quite an experience for some of us as it was their first time cooking for others for dinner. Anyway, the food was tasted fabulous after a few days here; we had our first home cooked food. On to top the fact that it was cooked by fellow friends. Teamwork was present.

Hope this just only mark the first time of cooking together and there would be many other chances.
