WEEK 1 DAY 6

Had breakfast in the morning at around 10am at the nearby school area had some noodles with a warm cup of bubble tea to kick start off the day.

Went to a shopping centre which takes around half an hour to reach by the transport of a bus, had a look around the shopping centre and found out that that most of the t-shirt which we want to buy was very expensive. And we ended up buying bags.

Headed to the cinema area to check out the prices of the movies and found out that actually it was more expensive here compared to Singapore movie theaters as 1 ticket for an adult was $60 which was about S$14. As we thought it would be cheaper, thus we did not catch a movie but headed to get some food at Macdonalds.

(From left to right)

Had a pie which was ham and cheese inside which could not be found in Singapore and it tasted great. Whereby, It started me thinking that why don’t Singapore have these too.

Anyway, took some photos while in KFC

Say CHEESE !

Met up with the others and walked our own ways after that.

We decided to walk to the bus stop to be able to take a bus to Carrefour. However to us, the bus stop would never be found !

As we walked, we started entering into all types of stores, one by one. That was when we started to shop then, buying stuff such as clothes which are very cheap, belts, shoes and gifts. What impact me the most throughout this whole shopping journey was the customer service they provided, the way they passed their shoes in a shop and also the attitude of people in the shop who serve customers.

(shoppers at WORK)

For the customer service part,at a shop called Feel 100%

Something I experience would be that I brought a t-shirt which was $15 and I headed to the counter to pay of my item. As I was queuing up, people were cutting into the queue and you had to be firm. When it finally reached my turn, the smallest note I had was $50 which I passed to the cashier and she asked me whether I had a smaller note. I checked my wallet again and shook my head saying I do not have. After that, her face turned black, took out the money and threw the change back to me.

Compared to Singapore, when I brought stuff, at most after they asked if you have a smaller change and you said you do not have. They would just try their best to get the change and return you the change properly not throw it at you. No matter what have the customer did wrong by giving you a big note. This is the part that I think they should improve on. And at a shoe shop, the people serving customers were wearing badges which had a smiley face but they were not wearing one on their face and I think they should wear a smile not give their customers a black face like someone had owed you something.

For the passing of shoes, we were in a shop and I was looking around and then I sat down. Then I was observing how they passed their shoes around in boxes. They practically threw the boxes here and there, back and front, left and right. There was like a person standing in the middle of the store which could be if the part of the shop the person was serving was at another end, they would treat the person in the middle as a middleman and throw the shoe boxes there before getting to the person. Unlike in Singapore, the sales personal needs to walk to the store room mostly to get a pair of shoe.

Also the people in the shop which serve people’s attitude were bad. As we walked into a wallet shop and started to look around. Then they were talking very loud right in front of our face that we were students and would not buy anything from here. They practically looked down on us as students and sure that we like could not afford the items. If they would want to improve, they should not have said it in front of us and at least not let us hear what they say. To me, it is rude to say such stuff in front of people, whether it is intentionally or unintentionally. In Singapore, even if they have comments, they would usually keep it to themselves before talking quietly or in private.

While walking along, the streets

Entered an alley and brought some gifts for friends

While at a bakery

Saw a very interesting event that they have there called "San Ba Jie Re"

Had dinner at KFC, and the difference between Singapore and Wuhan Zinger meal is that Wuhan KFC provide orange juice in the meal instead of coke, Wuhan KFC coleslaw was a mixture of corn, carrot and vegetables but Singapore it is only vegetables which was sliced; and Wuhan KFC burger was softer compared to Singapore’s one.

I noticed that the KFC delivery in Wuhan is by bicycle compared to Singapore that uses motorbikes.

Took a taxi back to hostel after that, and we had to climb over a fence to get into a taxi in the side of the road. When we got in we told him our destination but he asked us where the place and one of us replied “Wuhan” as we did not know the area well.

Luckily, he knew it at the end and brought us to the place we wanted, and talking to us about what are the places that could go to visit during our trip. I am not sure whether Singapore have this thing going on but then if it taxi drivers in Singapore could do that which I think they are doing, it would improve the tourism rate in Singapore as for example if tourist who comes here for a holiday are introduced to the places of interest in Singapore and likes it, they could tell their family, relatives and friends to visit Singapore.

Also, in the taxi, they have bars like dividing the passenger and the driver contact from the front and the back seat and certain bars from the driver’s seat and the front seat. I think it should be to prevent theft from happening but I feel that people are like trapped in the cage within a taxi. The trapped feeling which I do not like, unlike in Singapore which does not have the bars. But Singapore could also implement this thing.

While in the taxi

However, one thing which really gave us an eye-opener was the way the taxi driver drove the taxi, he was like cutting in and out of the of different lanes and they do not care about the pedestrians crossing the zebra crossing. Then he kept honing at cars and pedestrians. A sight in Singapore which cannot be seen and everybody seems to be doing the same thing. If it was in Singapore, they would already have been fined.

Reached back to hostel and gathered together our stuff we brought

That was the end our day.
