Today was like the day where the drums roll, as it was the releasing of exam results day. I was awoken up by my roommate, Hui Xin to check my exam results. But I wasn’t in any mood to check my results thus I just went back to sleep as I was deprived of my sleep.
My mobile phone vibrated, and then when I looked at it, it was my exam results. I had a glance through it at first, everything seems okay. But when I had a look at it again, I had a sad feeling that was overwhelming that made my feeling numb.
I had breakfast brought by Cheong Rui and Hui Xin which were dough stick, Dou Hua and dumplings.
Then headed to school and everyone was not satisfied with their results except of a few of them or maybe none.
We then had a lesson with Ms. Shi. We got to learn what different things stand for. That features are learned, shared, symbolized and adapting. She gave us examples of
-colours such as purple stands for good future
- Plant such as bamboo stands for fairness and honesty
- Animal such as cuckoo stands for sadness and homesickness and tiger stands for power, strength, brevity and king of beast.
Then she introduced to us the meanings of complement to partner, relation and to note the points such as trying to address your counterpart with his/her title. In Chinese, addressing title as they can show the owner’s position on the hierarchy and not to make complement to your partner’s wife directly.
Another topic she touch on is about lucky numbers from numbers 2-10.
After all that, she wrap up the lesson by telling us more about dragon boating festival which falls on the 5th day of the 5th month and occasion marked by special food such as eggs.
Alicia, Baohui and I had tomato with egg and potato strips with egg together with rice which was our dinner.
Even though, it was just simple dishes, served with rice and it was just vegetables. The taste was still marvelous. Like what Baohui was saying after that that like Chinese like to have three dishes, a meat, a vegetable and something else. But then it is like just a two dishes of vegetable for three of us are enough for a meal. In Singapore, even though we eat lesser than people in China, people are rounder in size but in china even though they eat more than Singaporeans, there aren’t many people that you can see having a rounder look. Guess it all comes down to lifestyle that different people leads.
I went back home and headed to the bathroom as today marks the day that I could wash my hair finally. After that, munch on some snacks before I started to do my assignments again.
