I woke up at around 7.10am, washed up and headed to school with Alicia, Baohui, Bernice, Yan Khee, Xiu Jin, Li Zhen and Eileen. We had some so called breakfast on the way to school.
Mr. Andy taught about the consumer in real China on how the tiers are affected by the influences on purchase decision, little emperors, food habits, impulse shopping, and internet usage. The relationship in Guan Xi about how is it in business making in China’s society and maybe the other parts in the world. That friends in China are not friends. To be beware of the dark side and the advantages of using Guan Xi to do business.
Basically, the four key points that he covered after that are strategic design, building your network, maintaining “Guan Xi” and managing “Guan Xi”. Other topics he covered on would be on China economy and business opportunities; import and export; policy adjustment; improve effiency of FDI utilization and gave a brief view of China Economy.
Also, he threw in some questions for us to complete it as an assignment.
We went back to our apartment during our first break buying back lunch as it was cold outside. We packed back our lunch from our favorite store which was fried tomato with two eggs and a bowl of rice with a cup of warm bubble tea to go along.
We strolled back to school and found out that we were early.
At class there was a new teacher who taught us and her name was Miss Huang, she talked about China’s history.
First of all she taught us about the prehistorical civilization where the origin of the two emperors, Yan Di and Huang Di came up about.
Followed by the Pre Qin Era which consists of the Xia, Shang, Western Zhou and Eastern Zhou during the 21st century BC to 221 BC. Covered on items such as oracle bones; Bronze Age; in western Zhou, Duke Zhou improved the ritual and musical system which was a source of Confucianism later; Eastern Zhou Dynasty (770BC – 221BC); Spring or Autumn period (770BC – 476BC) and Warning States period (475BC – 221BC). Then followed by the Splendid Imperial Era which is the Qin Dynasty – early Qin Dynasty during the 221BC to the 18 century. The popular thing about the Qin Dynasty is the Great Walls and troupe of soldiers. There were four great inventions during that time period, the compass, gun powder, art of paper making and block painting. Continued on about literature and art; architectural art; foreign relations; Silk Road and the history of humiliation.
Then she covered on the Socialist politics with Chinese characteristics such as the fundamental systems for example, congress system and state organs for example state council.
We girls took taxis down to Carrefour to have dinner at Orchard road which a store located at Carrefour area which is opened by a Singaporean. I had some chicken curry cutlet rice that’s comes with a drink of sour plum. We saw the owner of the store but she did not seem to be free to entertain us.

We went into Carrefour and brought snacks for our trip to Wu Dang Shang. We spent almost 1 hour or so at the chocolate area choosing chocolates.
Then we rushed back home to prepare for the celebration we are going to have for the 2 birthday guys for the day whom were Jian Wen and Kuan Wee. We were all in a rush upon reaching our apartment, some prepared the cake and some wrapped the presents up while the others stand by to help out. Then we all met up at the first floor there where we waited for the guys to come back from their dinner. It was all then about how to hide and what to do.
As time was ticking by, I was super nervous that if anything would cause a hiccup and spoilt the celebration. Guess it was not my day, while trying to light the candle up, I accidentally burnt my finger. We lighted the candle too early and soon the candles of 8 and 9 melted. Thus the backup candle which was 1 was used instead for the both of them to blow out.

The birthday boys came in and we came out and started singing the birthday song.
It was photo taking time and cutting of cakes for the 2 guys.
Actually I think our plan kind of failed as Kuan Wee noticed the difference that the lights in the house were all turned off, so he kind of guessed that there was something fishy going on.
Then it was unwrapping of presents.

We then had some cake, chat and not forgetting games. We played games such as Polar Bear, a game quite similar to truth or dare, and the broken telephone line.
Overall, I think I had a great day of having fun and really had time to bond with them.
